Interwell has acquired 100 % of the outstanding shares in Iconic. The acquisition expands Interwell’s capabilities within digital well intervention and barrier verification, enabling digital data transmissions in the well and across barriers, and enhances Interwell’s position as a market-leading technology provider for the global energy industry.

Expanding Interwell’s offering

Interwell and Iconic’s technologies are highly complementary. The two companies have an established partnership wherein they have collaborated to offer market-leading barrier technology and real-time monitoring. With the acquisition, Interwell will be able to increase customers’ access to these combined solutions and accelerate the adoption and implementation of Iconic’s proprietary acoustic technology.

Interwell develops and offers sealing technology and well integrity solutions. Worlds First Barrier Monitoring with Wired Drill Pipe!

ICONIC has successfully performed the first run with the Wired Drill Pipe Adapter (WDP). During the operation, live communication was established with the WDP adapter while running in hole. Signals were received from the iDT (Iconic Digital Transponder) below the 13 3/8in casing plug that was installed during the batch campaign eight months ago.

The data stream was displayed on the NOV WellData system.Before releasing the casing plug, the WDP adapter in conjunction with the iDT transmitted valuable pressure data from below the barrier leaving the operator to establish correct overbalance on the casing plug before releasing the barrier.

Did we mention that the operation was performed without Iconic personnel on site?

It was great to be back in-person at the SPE Aberdeen Well Decommissioning Conference to talk about Iconic’s technology.  

Iconic entered the stage in front of a great audience and presented Real Time Acoustic Barrier technology, the Iconic Digital Transponder.

AkerBP joined us for a presentation and tech talk. We performed a live demo of the iDT technologyand its capacities in our workshop together with Omega Intervention that supported us with plugs and running tools.

We are excited to announce that Karl Kristian Johnsen has been appointed as the new CEO in Iconic.
Karl Kristian has previously held the position as Sales & Business Development Director in Iconic. He brings over 18 years of experience from various roles in Sales, Project engineering and field execution from Baker Hughes and Interwell which makes him well suited for the challenges ahead.
Under Karl Kristian´s leadership, all of us at Iconic will continue to work towards our vision to deliver plug & play acoustic monitoring for well intervention, workover,and abandonment.

The Iconic Digital transponder (iDT) system is also compatible with WDP (wired drill pipe). As the only supplier in the world we have the opportunity to read out valuable date below a barrier with the Iconic WDP adapter. In a critical weather situation where the Rig has to disconnect, this is a fantastic tool for controlling pressure and temperature when you need to reconnect.

Iconic moves into new facilities in Golf Tower.
Iconic is expanding and found the timing right to move into bigger facilities in Forus.

Iconic continues its international expansion with a successful operation on a gas storage well located in southern France.
Iconic’s iDT was installed below a shallow set plug to monitor pressure and temperature between two shallow set plugs.
The iDT system was able to provide real-time monitoring during the entire operation providing a safe and more cost efficient solution for the operation.

Successful operation to monitor pressure during a valve changeout on a X-mas tree.
To be able to execute this operation in a safe and effective manner, there was a need to set two shallow barrier plugs above the Down Hole Safety Valve (DHSV).
iDT installed below a plug in order to have a monitoring below the plug during a Xmas tree maintenance operation.

Iconic is expanding further. We would like to welcome Karl Kristian Johnsen as our new member to the Iconic Team.
He will take on the position as Sales & Business Development Director in Iconic. Karl Kristian has over 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and have experience from Completion and intervention from Baker Hughes and Interwell.

Monitoring pressure below a shallow set casing plug for long time suspension of temporary P&A. Estimated suspension time of 6 months.
Successful installation and wireless monitoring was established and ongoing.

First mobilization of iDT for Wired Drill Pipe application for Temporary P&A application.
The iDT mobilized specially designed for long time suspension with Safety Integrity Level (SIL) design and redundancy.

The iDT installed below a NOV Tubing Hanger for safer and more efficient intervention during Xmas tree installation.
The well was suspended for 30 days with real time monitoring during the entire period.

Iconic has strengthened its sales team by the recruitment of Thomas Karlsen.
Thomas comes from the position as Sales Manager in Pipetech Scandinavia and he has previously held the position as Sales Engineer in Quickflange. Thomas has background from BI Norwegian Business School and brings 20 years of experience in sales to the company.

Successful iDT installation for monitoring barrier pressures during installation of Xmas tree.
The iDT was set below a nipple plug and real-time monitoring was successful during the entire operation.
The installation confirmed the reliability for the system enabling safer and more efficient operations to be performed.

Successful offshore installation for Iconic on an unmanned platform.
A well was planned to be temporary abandoned for approximately 5 years. As per regulatory requirements, a monitoring system is required for suspension for an extended time period.
The iDT was successfully installed below a multi-set plug to provide real-time monitoring directly to the control room onshore.

First field installation of the iDT on Gullfaks was a success.
The deployment demonstrated  a successful function of the iDT for Realtime wireless monitoring from below a casing plug set at approximately 34m depth.
The wireless two-way communication from surface to the iDT installed below the plug was confirmed.

Another successful iDT installation to monitor below a Tubing hanger plug at Martin Linge.
The Real-time monitoring was successful and enabled Equinor to pull the tubing hanger plug without the need for WL pressure control equipment simplifying the operation and saving operational rig time for completing the well in a more cost efficient manner.
